February 21, 2007 All You Need is Love
I was impressed when I opened my
email this morning and read HRC's new slogan for donations,
"Love Conquers Hate" (
http://www.hrc.org
) in a plea to support Hate Crimes legislation.
HRC is "leading the fight against
hate violence" and I'm sure that by not mentioning their support
for only explicitly inclusive legislation to ensure that
transgender people will be covered was simply an oversight.
After HRC pledged their support to
GenderPac, the largest and oldest representative of the
transgender community and the many hours that must have gone
into GenderPac's statistics report (see bottom of the page at
http://www.gpac.org/50under30/
) I just know it was an oversight by
HRC to not mention explicit inclusion, it would have to be.
Sincerely,
